The Greatest Commandment

According to Jesus, what is the greatest commandment? What makes it the greatest over all the commandments of God? Mark 12:28-34 not only tells us what the greatest commandment is, but also God's calling for our lives as his servants. Let us wrestle together the significance of loving God and loving our neighbors.

Invite-a-Friend

Come join us this Friday at 7:30pm for dinner at Maggiano's Little Italy in the Domain! There's just one stipulation...

You must bring a non-Christian friend and pay for their meal as well.

So how much is this going to set me back?
The cost will be $20 per person, so it will be $40 (plus $20 for each additional guest).

Why am I doing this?
We'd like to take this opportunity to intentionally extend Christ's love to the friends God has placed in our lives who do not know him yet. This dinner also allows us to apply what we have been learning in the book of Mark by being a servant and putting others first.

Becoming Pure Fruits

Being called a "Christian" goes beyond mere name or recognition. It defines a lifestyle reflecting the teachings and purpose of Jesus. A Christian can have the attributes of attending church, speaking "Christian" lingo, praying before every meal, etc. But, if his or her faith is not bearing the kinds of fruits that identify with the character of Jesus, then is this person a true follower of Christ? From Mark 11:12-25 we will look at what it means to generate lives that cause influence and right existence according to the life of the Servant.

To "See" in Faith

Life as a Servant: To "See" in Faith
We all know how invaluable physical sight is in our lives. Spiritual sight is also important because it helps us "see" who Jesus is and why he exists for us. To see in faith is to be able to believe that Jesus desires complete transformation in us. Hence, we must ask ourselves what things in life spiritually blind us from having real faith in Jesus. By looking at the life of Bartimaeus in Mark 10:46-52 we will learn what it means to "see" in faith.

Prayer. It is so powerful, and yet sometimes so difficult. It is individual, and yet it is corporal. There are so many methods of prayer, each one bringing a different experience with God. This Friday we hope you will join us as we spend some intimate time with God, exploring different prayer styles along the way.

How do we typically define greatness? Do we understand greatness through the lens of our careers, relationships, dreams, passions, etc.?

Now how does Jesus define greatness in Mark 9:30-37? Grasping Jesus' view on what greatness is impacts who we are as children of God. Let us journey together to discover what "being the greatest" truly means in our lives as Christ-followers.

Transforming Difficult Relationships

God calls us to live out our faith at work to draw closer those that do not yet know Him, but how do you get beyond the superficial with your relationships at work? Our guest speaker Auntie Susan Wong from the Branch fellowship will be sharing her personal testimony about how she approaches her workplace as her personal mission field for Christ.

This Saturday...Help Out at the Capital Area Food Bank

When: Sat Nov 7th, 1-4pm (12:15 @ John Sung to carpool & load donations)

Where: Capital Area Food Bank of Texas (8201 S. Congress Ave. Austin, TX 78745)

This Saturday we will be serving the city of Austin by sorting food at CAFB. Sorting donations gives you a "behind-the-scenes" look at how donations from the community get to hungry Central Texans. We will be inspecting, cleaning, sorting, boxing and making donations ready for distribution to CAFB's partner agencies and their clients.

We will also be partnering with Mercy Ministry to deliver donations collected from the ACC food drive to CAFB. Meet at John Sung at 12:15 p.m. to pack up all the items and bring them down to the Food Bank together. If you will not be helping to deliver the food, meet us directly at the Food Bank.

You will need to wear closed-toe shoes at the Food Bank. Flip flops and sandals are not permitted in the warehouse. Please review the safety rules and guidelines at http://cafbtx.convio.net/vol-rules.
